1. The bombing of
Baghdad.
The Western Alliance launched its campaign to liberate Kuwait from
Iraqi occupation with a sustained bombardment of Baghdad with so-called
'smart' bombs and cruise missiles. Viewers saw on board video pictures
from laser guided bombs for the first time

The liberation of Kuwait.
Despite the promise of the 'mother of all battles' from the Iraqi
leader Saddam Hussein, his troops put up little resistance, many choosing
to flee down the road to Basra where hundreds died under allied bombing.

The bombing of Belgrade.
NATO finally took on the Serb leadership, but the laser guided high-tech
weaponry was not as clinical as military leaders had hoped. The bombing
of the Chinese Embassy nearly derailed the whole operation to force
the Serbs out of Kosovo.
4. KFOR enter
Kosovo.
After weeks of bombing Serb forces finally agreed to retreat
from Kosovo as NATO landforces, led by British troops, moved
in.
