This is the second single from the band composed of three bassists and two metal
percussionists, and is a more precise slice of noise than their debut Song
For Europe release. Lipstick sweeps in on a wave of shrill feedback
and distorted bass hook before settling into a crunching rhythm, punctuated
by cascading metal and KeithÕs screaming vocals. The multi-layered voices give
the listener the feeling that thereÕs an exorcism going on. Who knows what heÕs
shouting, but Keith sounds as if he means it.
Fat Elvis goes straight for the jugular and borrows some of the insistence
and dynamics of early Swans. More feedback, more oil drums and fire extinguisher,
more screaming and a concise bass beat spew forth the almost hypnotic pulse
that is Fat Elvis.
If you like a bit of noise with your rockÕnÕroll, or a bit of rockÕnÕroll with
your noise, this one's for you. Headbutt? Headbang more like. Richard Gallon
